Change your old router into a Range Extender

Here's how those who want to change the old wireless router into a Range Extender.

1. Log into your router control panel at this time (refer to as the DEA to the main router to be used),
if you did not know you could type cmd / k ipconfig at the command prompt and locate the IP address of the Default Gateway.

Then enter the IP address into a browser and you should be brought to your router's control panel, usually required a username and password.

2. Prepare a pen and paper and write down some of the data that is in the control panel, ranging from:
- Wireless Network Name (SSID)
- Wireless Channel
If your channel AUTO writing, it is better replaced with a manual
- Wireless Network Mode
- Wireless Security Mode
- And Password

3. Disconnect the LAN cable on the computer and connect the LAN cable from your old computer to the router (call it WANDA).

Before or after it could be connected, you should perform a HARD RESET on the old router (the WANDA) by pressing the RESET button is there.

4. After RESET is complete, you can access the control panel on the old router by typing in the browser's IP address is 192.168.1.1
(depending on the router brand and type of router) and chances are you asked to enter your username and password (you can check the manual for the default password)

5. Enter the necessary data in accordance with the data that you recorded from the main router, starting from the SSID, Channel, Mode Wireless and password

Then enter SETUP >>> ADVANCED ROUTING and replace the Operating Mode of the GATEWAY to ROUTER then click SAVE

6. Go to the BASIC SETUP and change from Enable to Disable for DHCP and enter the IP address (IP Address) is desired.

For the IP address can be up to you but note also the main setting in the router, like us, only allow the IP range from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.115, which means if you write outside the IP range then it will not be detected.

7. After everything is finished now the WANDA unplug from the computer.

8. It's time to connect the DEA with the WANDA through available ports and make sure the port is not in use (see the second image above).

9. When finished should in minutes, your Wi-Fi signal that was weak would be strong like men herbal drink. :-)

Some things to remember:
- The experiment we did with our Cisco routers EA4500 Linksys WRT-54G and so that others may use slightly different settings and can also fail.

- One drawback of this method compared to buying a Range Extender is a wiring problem where you have to set up a LAN cable that is long enough to position the WANDA in the right location, while if the Range Extender does not need cable, just plug in any electrical

- Because of the settings in the settings in the DEA WANDA follow then you do not need to make any changes to the gadget or notebook.
